In the spring of 2018 Shelly found a small storefront on main street of the artsy river town of Nyack and opened an art gallery and school. There she found her passions united, in a space that spoke the langue of her joy her vision. Through its artistic expressions in design and display, as well as the experience it brought to others, Shelly felt deeply fulfilled and inspired to give more art, love, joy and creativity to her community. She held art classes there, small group gatherings of art themed cultural events and projects, as well as small birthday parties and celebrations. People who came into her gallery were delighted to be transported by its unique beauty and tranquil energy. A lot of people purchased and commissioned custom artworks and handmade gifts as well. Having the art gallery combined all Shelly’s love and interests and allowed her to be in her element in full force, as a creator, orchestrator and facilitator. It was one of the happiest times in her life.
Just as the gallery started getting more foot traffic and attention, Covid happened, and sadly, Shelly had to close the gallery before it had a chance to really flourish. But her dream of reopening an art space, and continuing to offer others the joy and excitement found in creative activities, lived on..
As soon as she saw the magnificent space in the Armory Building, Shelly knew she had found her new gallery. The potential of the space, provided by its openness with high ceilings and expansive walls on all sides, seemed limitless.. She immediately envisioned an elegant, fun and inviting environment for people to connect and thrive. Shelly believes that, lies within all of our hearts and our nature, is a deep desire for appreciation of beauty, the joy of art making and the nourishment of our soul through all creative endeavors.
